Hoya sp. VL9 variegated is a collector’s variety originating from Southeast Asia. Its base form, Hoya sp. VL9, is considered to be closely related to Hoya Sigillatis, a species endemic to the island of Borneo.
In nature, these plants grow as epiphytes in humid, tropical rainforests, attaching themselves to tree branches where they benefit from high humidity and diffused light. The variegated form is a horticultural mutation stabilized in cultivation. Its leaves display irregular cream-yellow variegation contrasting beautifully with the grey-green background. The variegation usually appears in the central part of the leaves, leaving the edges dark green.
